Overview:

LSAC is a not-for profit organization whose mission is to advance law and justice by supporting the learning journey from prelaw through practice.

 

Summary of Position:

 

The Accommodated Testing Specialist will play a leadership role within the Accommodated Testing Department at LSAC. The Accommodated Testing Specialist will be responsible for reviewing accommodation requests and making recommendations and decisions on requests for testing accommodations on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) submitted by candidates with claimed physical or mental impairments, including but not limited to learning and attention disorders, visual impairments, and physical and neurological disorders.

 

Pay rate: $85,000-95,000, depending on experience

 

Essential Functions:

 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

The individual employed in this position will be required to:

 

  • Review and make recommendations and decisions for requests for testing accommodations on the LSAT received from candidates with claimed physical or mental impairments, including but not limited to learning and attention disorders, visual impairments, and physical and neurological disorders.
  • Provide support for Accommodated Testing Associates.
  • Serve as a liaison to external professional consultants.
  • Input data into electronic databases regarding testing accommodation requests.
  • Create correspondence as needed to communicate decisions and respond to candidates' inquiries.
  • Assist in developing and designing documents and materials to facilitate the testing accommodation request and review process.
  • Work collaboratively within department to assist with operational matters.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as amended.
  • Familiarity with professionally recognized diagnostic criteria.
  • Proven ability to understand and follow applicable internal criteria and standards for reviewing testing accommodation requests and communicating recommendations and decisions.
  • Knowledge of documentation needed to support a disability determination and experience with different testing accommodations to mitigate typical functional limitations.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with a wide variety of test instruments designed to measure the scope, effect, and extent of a person's functional limitations through graduate level coursework and relevant job experience.
  • Knowledge of how disabilities may affect functioning in school, work, testing, and home environments.
  • Sensitivity to handling personal and confidential information and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and to perform tasks simultaneously with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams).
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and exercise discretion appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, poise, and professionalism.
  • Highly approachable and service oriented.

  • Some travel and presentations at conferences may be required.

 

 

Required Experience and Education:

 

  • Graduate degree in Psychology, Special Education, or other closely related field required.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical, teaching, or research experience in the diagnosis and treatment of disabilities and determination of appropriate testing accommodations related to the specific functional limitations associated with disabilities within your area(s) of expertise is required.
  • Doctorate Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or other closely related field preferred.
  • Prior experience with testing accommodations preferred.

 

Preferred Experience and Education:

 

B.A. or B.S. degree

Strong customer service skills

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

This role does not have people management responsibilities.

 

 

Position Type:

 

The LSAC standard business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. ET. While these are the standard office hours for LSAC, as an exempt employee, the employee will be expected to work the hours necessary to satisfactorily complete their assignments in a responsible and professional manner.

 

 

Travel:

Occasional travel may be expected for this position .
