We are currently seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our team as an Advanced Placement (AP) English and History Teacher. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous curriculum for Advanced Placement (AP) English and History courses, adhering to College Board standards and objectives.
  2. Create dynamic lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional methods, such as discussions, lectures, projects, and activities, to foster critical thinking, analysis, and writing skills.
  3. Provide differentiated instruction to address the diverse learning needs and styles of students, including English language learners and students with learning disabilities.
  4. Facilitate in-depth discussions and debates on literary works, historical events, themes, and concepts, encouraging students to analyze and interpret primary and secondary sources critically.
  5. Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, respect, collaboration, and cultural understanding.
  6. Integrate technology and digital resources effectively into instruction to enhance learning experiences, including online research, multimedia presentations, and virtual discussions.
  7. Evaluate student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, such as essays, exams, projects, presentations, and class participation.
  8. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their assignments, performances, and progress, guiding them toward academic growth and success.
  9. Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding course expectations, assignments, assessments, and student progress.
  10. Stay informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in English and History education, including changes to the AP curriculum, exam formats, and scoring criteria.
  11. Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to align curriculum, share resources, and create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  12. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, conferences, and faculty meetings to enhance teaching skills, content knowledge, and instructional effectiveness.


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in English, History, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Teaching credential or certification preferred.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in both English and History, with a solid understanding of AP curriculum, content, and exam requirements.
  4. Previous teaching experience, especially at the high school level, is preferred.
  5. Passion for teaching and a dedication to fostering student growth, achievement, and success in English and History.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  7. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and accommodate various learning styles.
  8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage classroom activities, assessments, and records.
  9. Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies and instructional approaches based on student needs, feedback, and assessment data.
