Site Director – After-School Childcare Program (Education & Youth Leadership)

About Kids Place, Inc.
Kids Place, Inc. is a well-established non-profit childcare and youth education organization with 15 locations across Knox and Sevier Counties. We are dedicated to creating fun, safe, and enriching after-school environments for children in grades K–5. Our programs support learning, creativity, and personal growth—and we’re looking for energetic and experienced leaders to join our team.
We are now hiring two full-time Site Directors to oversee and manage daily operations at one of our after-school childcare centers.
Position Summary
The Site Director is a critical leadership role responsible for running a Kids Place program location. This role includes staff supervision, program planning, parent communication , and maintaining compliance with childcare licensing regulations .
The right candidate will be organized, dependable , and passionate about making a difference in children's lives through structured after-school care and enrichment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support childcare staff; foster a positive team environment
Implement Kids Place curriculum and lead age-appropriate activities
Ensure a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment
Build relationships with children, parents, school personnel, and community partners
Manage billing, enrollment, attendance, and administrative tasks
Ensure full compliance with all DHS and state childcare regulations
Maintain staff schedules and ratios
Attend monthly leadership meetings and complete required annual training
Handle behavior and conflict resolution with professionalism and care
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Minimum 3 years of experience in a licensed childcare, preschool, camp, or school setting
Experience in a leadership, management, or supervisory role
Willing to pursue or currently hold a CDA or Associate Degree (or higher) in child development, early childhood education, or a related field
Basic computer and recordkeeping skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to challenges
Strong communication and organizational skills
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must be able to relocate to or commute within the Knoxville, TN area
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Youth leadership or teaching experience
Experience in after-school care, early childhood education, or recreation programs
Conflict resolution and behavioral guidance
Team-building and staff coaching
Creativity and problem-solving
High emotional intelligence and adaptability
Passion for community engagement and child development
Schedule & Compensation:
Pay: $33,000 – $37,000 per year (based on experience and education)
Schedule During School Year: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Schedule During Summer/Breaks: Flexible shifts between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
No nights or weekends required
