Hey - good news! Prior experience is not necessary. We will train the right person! The Bartender is a positive, welcoming person who enjoys meeting new people and can move quickly in a fast-paced environment. By being kind and attentive to our guests and other staff members the bartender helps everyone reset from their lives, bond with others, feel like they are home, and focus on creating memories.
You have to enjoy interacting with people to do well in this role and you will thrive if you want to learn more about world class hospitality. What Your Day Will Look Like: Tending the Bar - Serve our guests alcoholic beverages in a timely and courteous manner
- Knowledge of beers and wines to hold intelligent conversations and offer pairing suggestions.
- Be consistent in producing quality beverages
- Serve drinks every evening at the lodge and at the evening activities in the saloon and at the campfire
- Serve non-alcoholic drinks to our younger guests
- Accurately record staff alcohol purchases
- Accurately record wine purchases
- Coach assigned staff on how to be the most helpful when barbacking for you on select evenings
- The bartender reserves the right to not serve any person that has become intoxicated
Hosting - Primary hosts for our guests, often the first staff they encounter after their afternoon activities and the last staff they see at the end of the evening.
- Takes pride in welcoming our guests into a clean and inviting atmosphere, greeting them by name and remembering their drink orders
- Encourage guest participation at the activities (leading ice breaker games, dancing, singing karaoke, etc.)
- Help serve a weekly multi-course plated wine dinner
Restocking and Cleaning - Maintain inventories at each bar location
- Daily stocking and set up of each bar
- Change out kegs as they become empty
- Change out gas canisters as they become empty
- Pick up and store the weekly liquor order
- Maintain the sanitary conditions of the bars and bar storage areas
- Pack up and clean the bar at the end of the night
You Will Have Other Ranch Duties - Yes, you usually get 2 days off a week here because we value ME time. But, we also ask that you be flexible and willing to fill in for someone in a pinch. Extra hours are almost always available for our folks who prefer the 6-7 day work week.
- Attending ranch meetings and training sessions
- Doing assigned employee housing chores in your free time because it is your home for the summer and it "magically" gets messy.
- You must enjoy cleaning and following checklists
- Physically fit and capable of carrying a case of wine or a pony keg up and down a full flight of stairs, repeatedly
- Be ok with having to drive 10 minutes to get cell phone reception or using a land phone (Gasp!) to make a phone call while on the ranch (training provided).
- Be able to lift 50-75 pounds and work 55 hours/week.
- Work with minimal supervision and take directions from ranch leaders
- Familiar with or willing to be trained on sharing satellite internet with your roommates!!
- Able to demonstrate good communication skills and customer relations
- Be willing to help in other departments as needed
- Must wear appropriate uniforms and maintain a neat/clean appearance
- Be able to laugh and have fun!
- Must be a citizen of The United States of America or possess a current and appropriate working visa.
- Hold a valid drivers license
- Must be at least 21 years of age
