Job Summary

Thriving Together TN, Inc. is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play a critical role in guiding the vision, mission, and strategic direction of our organization. Board Members provide governance, oversight, and support to ensure the agency remains financially healthy, mission-focused, and responsive to the needs of the children and families we serve.

Job Responsibilities

● Promote the organization’s mission, vision, purpose, and programs to the community.
● Understand and follow all policies, procedures, bylaws, and resolutions set forth by the Board, including annual acknowledgement and signing of the Conflict of Interest Policy.
● Commit to routinely addressing the organization’s needs through leveraging their personal and business networks, resources (including personal monetary donations), knowledge, and experience.
● Seek out financial resources and partnerships necessary to sustain and promote the mission and enhance the organization’s public image.
● Uphold the legal duties and laws regarding nonprofit governance.
● Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings.
● Join and actively contribute to at least one Committee.
● Contribute a minimum of one hundred dollars ($100) to the Corporation, to be paid no later than the 1st day of July each year.

Qualifications

Required Experience: To be eligible for Board membership election, a candidate shall be a natural person who, at the time of election shall be at least 21 years of age, shall in the determination of the Board, 1) exemplify qualities of honesty, integrity, and sound moral character, 2) be committed to support and uphold the purposes, mission, and general policies of the corporation, and 3) have a willingness and ability to devote necessary time to Board activities.

Directors need not be residents of the State of Tennessee. Election to the Board of Directors shall be by majority vote of the Members of the Board of Directors.

Skills: Leadership, flexibility, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking, ethical conduct, community connectedness, a commitment to continuous learning, passion, and commitment to the mission. Knowledge and ability, or at least willingness to learn to use digital resources such as Zoom, Google Drive, email, etc., as decided by the Board for effective and efficient governance operations.

Term: Directors may serve for two (2) consecutive full terms (e.g., initial term of 3 years + 2nd term of 3 years immediately following = 6 years total served, as the maximum service consecutively, for any one Board member). Previous Directors may be eligible for consideration of renewal to the Board after at least one full year has concluded since their Board service.
