The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced  Building Science Consultant to join our close-knit team in Vancouver, BC.

The Role:

Day-to-day work includes the following components. There will also be opportunities to work on more unique projects in BC and along the west coast of the USA.

  • Undertake field reviews of in-situ construction.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports which highlight our findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage expertise in building science, engineering, and construction to deliver holistic solutions to clients.
  • Cultivate strong relationships, understand client needs, and tailor solutions that align with their goals.
  • Solve building science challenges, leverage technical knowledge and creative approaches.
  • Review and communicate design impacts with other professionals.
  • Contribute to our existing library of building enclosure design.
  • Develop project specifications and drawing packages.
  • Administer contracts including RFI responses, shop drawing and product submittal reviews.
  • Perform energy modelling simulations to validate performance and help teams build better buildings.
  • Calculate heat loss through thermal bridging details.
  • Calculate the impacts of embodied carbon through life cycle assessments.

You:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Architecture or Engineering.
  • 2+ years of work experience in building science, building design, or related fields such as architecture, project management, sustainability, and MEP.
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel to construction sites throughout the lower mainland.
  • Familiarity with site testing (i.e. water penetration testing, air barrier testing, etc.) preferred
  • Drafting ability with AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Experience with energy modelling, thermal simulations and life cycle software is preferred.
  • Ability to register with EGBC, AIBC, ASTTBC is preferred.
