We provide residential treatment programming for youth ages who have a variety of behavioral health needs such as self-injurious, risk-taking, and/or aggressive behaviors. Clinical Diversion Specialist
It is estimated that approximately 70% of youth admitted to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Early Intervention and Diversion Center have experienced some form of mental health concern.
Applewood Centers has partnered with the Cuyahoga Juvenile Court to provide specialized programming to reduce court involvement as well as decrease the recidivism rate for youth. In the last year, 96% of youth involved with our Diversion programs have had no new legal charges filed.
The Diversion Specialist will ensure the appropriate placement of youth throughout our array of referral and treatment services for the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Early Intervention and Diversion Center. In this role, you will provide clinical assessments based on verbal, written, and face-to-face interviews to determine appropriate level of treatment for youth either referred to the Intervention Center or brought to the program by the police for domestic violence calls. Assessors will complete a youth screener, a safety plan, symptomology screeners and connect the youth and guardian with ongoing services.
Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for completion of behavioral health and juvenile justice screeners. Communicate results of assessment and recommended services to referring court staff.
Administer, track, and submit outcome measures in accordance with program standards.
Face-to-face or virtual admission with clients and guardian. Entails completing all required clinical and administrative paperwork. Completion and submission of behavioral health reports and safety plans to referring court personnel.
Coordinate and link with other community behavioral health and substance use providers to ensure continuity of care for open cases.
Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related clinical field.
Valid Ohio LSW or PC required.
3-5 years’ experience in behavioral health, substance abuse, and/or juvenile justice fields.
Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.
Strong clinical skills including expertise in juvenile justice, systemic family therapy, crisis intervention, family education, behavioral interventions, and substance use treatment.
Experience in clinical diagnosis and assessment.
