About the Role:

The Drywall Mechanic plays a critical role in the construction and finishing of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings by expertly installing drywall panels to create smooth, durable wall and ceiling surfaces. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that all drywall installations meet structural and aesthetic standards, contributing to the overall quality and safety of the building. The Drywall Mechanic collaborates closely with other construction professionals to interpret blueprints and specifications, ensuring that installations align with project requirements and timelines. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a drywall mechanic or in a similar construction role.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.

• Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training program in drywall installation.
• Certification in construction safety or OSHA training.
• Experience with advanced drywall finishing techniques such as texturing or plastering.
• Basic knowledge of related trades such as carpentry or painting.

Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and install drywall panels on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces according to project specifications.
• Secure drywall sheets to framing using nails, screws, or adhesive, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
• Tape, mud, and sand joints and seams to create a smooth, seamless surface ready for finishing.
• Inspect installed drywall for defects or damage and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Collaborate with project managers, carpenters, and other tradespeople to coordinate work and meet project deadlines.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow all safety protocols and building codes to ensure compliance and prevent accidents.
