Executive Chef – Private Dining Club

Location: Nassau Club of Princeton, Princeton, New Jersey

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking an Executive Chef to lead our culinary operations, drive innovation, and uphold the highest standards of excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced leader who thrives in a creative, high-touch, and service-driven environment.

Position Overview

The Executive Chef will oversee all culinary and Stewarding operations, including our two restaurants and private events, ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency. This individual will be responsible for menu development, cost controls, kitchen leadership, and fostering a culture of excellence within the culinary team. Will be part of a new kitchen design and concept change over the next two years.

Reporting directly to the General Manager , the Executive Chef will play a key role in shaping the club’s culinary identity while maintaining operational efficiency and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership & Menu Innovation

  • Design and execute seasonal, locally inspired menus for both restaurants and private events.
  • Elevate the private dining and event experience with creative and customized offerings.
  • Demonstrate new techniques and culinary trends to inspire the team.
  • Ensure consistency in quality, flavor, and presentation across all outlets.
  • Partner with local vendors to create inhouse events and excursions.
  • Work with the activities committee on ideas and unique experiences for our members.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Manage food costs, labor expenses, and inventory to achieve financial goals.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships for top-quality ingredients through Avendra programs.
  • Implement and enforce food safety and sanitation standards .
  • Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and precision in execution.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled culinary7 stewarding team , including Sous Chefs.
  • Create a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture that fosters growth and passion for food.
  • Provide ongoing training in culinary techniques, presentation, and hospitality standards .
  • Ensure staffing levels align with service demands while maintaining a strong guest experience .

Guest Experience & Club Standards

  • Maintain a high-touch, guest-focused approach to service.
  • Engage with club members to personalize dining experiences and exceed expectations.
  • Respond to member feedback and continuously enhance the culinary experience .
  • Uphold the prestige and exclusivity of the club’s dining offerings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience as an Executive Chef or 3+ years as an Executive Sous Chef in a high-end restaurant, private club, or luxury hotel setting.
  • Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong background in fine dining, private events, and menu development .
  • Expertise in cost controls, inventory management, and kitchen operations .
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing culinary team .
  • Passion for local, seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques .
  • Flexible schedule, including availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
