Club Manager (CM)

Position Summary

Fitness Connection is now hiring for a Club Manager position. The Club Manager provides daily, weekly, and monthly direction for Sales and Operations Managers, Fitness Consultants and other hourly teammates. The CM must lead by example in creating and maintaining a strong achievement culture in his/her club and be a team player who believes in the power of changing lives through fitness.

 

Your Day to Day

 

PEOPLE LEADER

- Leads a high performing club team that maintains a focus on changing lives through Fitness

- Recruits, hires and promotes sales managers, operations managers, fitness consultants, connection specialists, and kids club teammates

- Develops and trains sales managers, operations managers, fitness consultants, connection specialists, and kids club teammates

- Identifies high potential talent

- Consistently recognizes and rewards great performance

- Provides coaching and feedback to build competency

- Maintains strong and consistent people practices with all teammates, taking appropriate action as needed

 

BUSINESS DRIVER

- Partners with their Area Manager and Club Leadership Team to ensure smooth and timely communication and execution of initiatives, systems & programs

- Meets or exceeds targets in all club areas on a consistent basis

- Ensures consistent effective communication

- Cascades new information & training through both event-based and ongoing methods

- Provides follow up and feedback around initiatives, systems and programs to assistant club managers and hourly teammates

- Partners with Area Manager to diagnose, plan, and overcome ongoing challenges

- Performs as a subject matter expert, leading the team from the front as needed to drive performance

 

FINANCIAL RESULTS

- Creates and executes proactive plans while coaching The Play every day and adjusting based on results in real time

- Ensures revenue goals are met or exceeded, while expense goals remain within budget

- Creates and executes forward-looking club plans

- Approves all club schedules to ensure accurate coverage and efficient use of labor hours

- Analyzes business trends and data to assess and improve club performance, both operationally and financially

 

CLUB STANDARDS

- Ensures a well-run, standard driven club through daily, weekly and monthly focus, communication and follow up on both Sales & Operations

- Leads execution of day-to-day club operations

- Holds team accountable to Fitness Connection systems and standards for both sales and operations functions

- Monitors adherence to member programs

- Provides feedback and support around club appearance & maintenance

- Ensures consistent retail program execution

- Offers consultation and recommendations to their managers on overcoming operations challenges

 

Our Club Managers oversee a single club location and directly supervise both sales and operations managers and through them teams of Fitness Consultants and Connection Specialists. Club Managers work hours range from 6 am to 8 pm and can include weekend, evening and early morning hours as the business requires. Some travel may be required for regional and national meetings, and/or to provide assistance at another location.

 

Requirements

- High School Diploma or GED required, College Degree preferred

- For external hire, minimum of 12 months of club management with a proven record of success required, preferably in the fitness industry

- For internal promotion, minimum of six months as a Sales or Operations Manager with Fitness Connection; must be in good company standing and have a proven record of performance

- Knowledge of the Fitness industry as well as the necessary business acumen of running a complete business unit [Risk, Talent, Facilities, etc]

- Knowledge and skills in staffing with proven record of results

- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and able to adapt to new systems easily

- Valid state driver's license and clean driving record is required

- Criminal background check will be performed as a term of employment

- Position duties require daily standing, walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, and reaching

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business-related documents such as financial reports and legal documents

- Ability to respond verbally and in writing, to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

- Ability to effectively present information to district management and club leadership and to members of the business community

- Fluent in written and spoken English required, addition of Spanish skills a plus
