HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer  

MEP Engineering- Mechanical Design Engineer- MEP- HVAC- Plumbing

Our MEP engineering firm client based in the local area is looking to add a mid-level Mechanical Engineer (HVAC/Plumbing) to the organization for a full-time permanent staff opportunity. In this role you will work closely with senior engineers assisting in designing HVAC and plumbing systems on a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to a variety of HVAC & Plumbing system design projects
• Work with multi-discipline staff in designing and implementing mechanical systems in new or existing buildings
• Directly interface with clients, vendors, contractors and associates of SSM
• Perform mechanical design calculations and standard computations, such as building heating and cooling
• Follow building design and energy codes and standards
• Survey mechanical systems, equipment and building conditions.
• Specify equipment requirements
• Prepare technical reports and specifications
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and other project team members as needed to support project design
• Manage multiple projects through design until completion of construction.
• Coordinate with design team professionals of other disciplines as they perform their designs to ensure proper coordination on construction documents.
• Research and apply applicable codes to design
• Perform project site visits during design and construction to ensure proper implementation of the design documents
• Prepare concept, schematic design, design development and construction documents
• Conduct code research and incorporate applicable requirements into the design
• Preparation of design drawings, specifications, and control sequences of operation
• During project construction carrying out submittal reviews, making construction site visits and observing system start-ups
• Interact closely with company staff and mgmt., and clients

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Architectural Engineering, Plumbing Engineer or equivalent
• Knowledge/understanding of LEED and Green Building practices is a plus.
• Three (3) or more years of engineering experience in the design of HVAC & Plumbing systems
• Engineer in Training (EIT)/Fundamental Engineer (FE) exam required
• AutoCAD and Revit experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus, not required
• Strong interpersonal skills maintaining professional client relationships
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
