Overview We are seeking a Japanese-language Translator to support a high-volume document review project. This role involves reviewing and translating electronic documents acquired from business productions, with assignment workload ranging from part- to full-time for at least six months and potentially longer. Location San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: Remote with limited onsite work 1-2 days a week) Duration: Through March 2026, with possible extension. Responsibilities Translate Japanese-language documents (emails, business records, and other materials) identified through review platforms and machine translation. Draft summaries and/or informal translations as requested. Participate in team meetings and provide oral explanations of documents when required. (Interpretation services are not required.) Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all documentation and security procedures. Required Qualifications Business-level fluency in written Japanese (professional certification preferred but not required). Will be required to take Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) test and obtain a score of at least a 3+/3+ in the Target Language and English, for Reading and Writing. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Must have a secure, reliable, high-speed internet connection. Must be based in the San Francisco area and willing to go on-site one to two times per week (travel will not be reimbursed). Desired Qualifications Experience with Relativity or similar document review platforms. Prior experience in a legal, corporate, or compliance setting (preferred but not required). Hours & Availability Part-time; workload may vary between 20–40 hours per week depending on project needs. The initial workload anticipated to require 40 hours due to backlog of documents.
