About the job Junior Network Engineer Junior Network Engineer (1-3 years experience) Long term contract No remote Must reside near Fairfax, VA We are seeking a motivated Network Support Engineer to assist with the configuration, installation, and maintenance of various network devices and services, including routers and switches. You will play a key role in network maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting, providing Level 1/2 support to ensure the smooth operation of the network infrastructure. In this position, you'll work within established configuration and change management policies to support the company's network while assisting the security team with implementing security tools, policies, and procedures. You'll also collaborate with IT personnel to resolve technical issues efficiently. Key Responsibilities : Configure and install network devices, such as routers and switches. Assist with network maintenance, system upgrades, patches, and security configurations. Provide Level-1/2 support for troubleshooting network issues. Ensure network changes comply with established policies. Assist in the implementation of network security tools and policies. Collaborate with IT personnel for problem resolution. Required Skills & Experience : Proven hands-on network experience. CCNA or higher certification. Familiarity with networking fundamentals (802.11, VLAN, VRFs). Strong understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model. Hands-on experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds NPM). Technologies : Cisco routers and switches (Catalyst). Juniper routers, switches, and Mist. InfoBlox (IPAM, DNS, DHCP). SolarWinds NPM for network monitoring.
