Job Description

Decypher is seeking Clinical Psychologist candidates to support the DoD contract at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA and outlying facilities. The successful candidate will possess the required education, skills, and experience called for in the contract as described below. US Citizenship and active NACI clearance required.

Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Multiple Sites

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  2. Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  3. Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association. A one-year fellowship or residency in health psychology or behavioral medicine OR possess one year of experience in the last four years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems, OR possess two years of clinical work experience as a full-time Clinical Psychologist within the preceding three years.
  4. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

  1. Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
  2. Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  3. Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  4. Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  5. Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
  6. Deliver brief, consultation-based services to patients and PCMs using an integrated care model. Services provided are standard and mimic the structure, function, and pace of primary care (i.e., psychotherapy or other specialty care psychological assessments are inappropriate and therefore prohibited).
  7. Provide timely and succinct feedback to primary care physicians regarding consultations findings and recommendations.
  8. Determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving services in the primary care setting and assisting with implementation of treatment plans.
  9. Formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to primary care setting and assisting with implementation of treatment plans.
  10. Provide brief follow ups, including relapse-prevention education.
  11. Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health.
  12. See approximately 8-14 patients a day.
  13. Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in patient’s medical record in no less than 24 hours after the patient is seen.
  14. Participate in group medical appointments including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop-in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA) as requested by the PCM.
  15. Provide technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service.

Additional Duties for Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC), Naval Training Center (NTC)

  1. Deliver brief, consultation-based services to patients and PCMs using an integrated care model.
  2. Provide timely and succinct feedback to primary care physicians regarding consultations findings and recommendations.
  3. Determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving services in the primary care setting and assisting with implementation of treatment plans.
  4. Formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to primary care setting and assisting with implementation of treatment plans.
  5. Provide brief follow ups, including relapse-prevention education.
  6. Help facilitate classes that promote clinically related patient education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health.
  7. See approximately 8-14 patients a day within one year of Phase I evaluation completion.
  8. Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in patient’s medical record in no less than 24 hours after the patient is seen.
  9. Participate in group medical appointments including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop-in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA) as requested by the PCM.
  10. Provide technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service.
  11. Participate in the IBHC program by providing clinically related input on the overall success of the care team.
  12. Coordinate care with other health care providers and provide consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
  13. Participate in an on-site designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) tele-mentoring training program.
  14. Participate in tele-mentoring, tele-medicine, and tele-consults.
