Job Description

Job Title: Mailroom Clerk

Location: Houston, TX

Position Type: Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of this position is to (1) Perform delivery and pickup of mail & packages to/from the post office, firm clients and courts, and (2) Process daily mail using mailing software (3) Organize and maintain mailroom inventory and equipment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pick up/drop off mail at the post office daily

Ensure that Mail manifest is correct, and date stamped.

Drive attorneys and staff to court and appointments

File documents at the courthouse

Deliver and pick up documents to various locations within downtown and a few miles outside of downtown ie Precinct 6 and Precinct 7 offices.

Ensure company vehicles are well maintained on a weekly basis. ie car washes and regular oil changes.

Assist with processing incoming mail: Open incoming mail primarily to identify incoming payments. Promptly process and deliver mail around the office.

Familiar with how to run and maintain mailroom equipment

Assist with delivery and inventory of office supplies

Assist with Attorney pickup and drop off at various Houston locations

Assist with pickup and delivery of Attorney miscellaneous outside office supplies request.

All other duties assigned by supervisor and manager

EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND EDUCATION:

Must have valid driver's license

Well- organized and detail oriented

Excellent time management skills; punctual; excellent attendance

Solid work ethic

Good communication skills

Good computer skills

Clean driving record and (preferably) knowledge of the Downtown area, esp. the courthouses as well as the Houston area in general.

Willing to cross train for additional duties that are part of the daily mailroom /runner operations

Ability to work in high-volume, fast paced environment

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

High school diploma/GED is a must.
