Job Overview

VisitNorman is looking for a creative and resourceful Marketing Specialist to join our collaborative team. In this full-time role, you’ll contribute to meaningful marketing initiatives that highlight Norman as a premier destination, from crafting engaging digital content to supporting events and promotional efforts.

As a key team member, you’ll work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to support a wide range of projects, including social media, email campaigns, sales collateral, press releases, and community outreach. Each day brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and make a tangible impact on Norman’s vibrant community.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Digital Marketing:

  • Develop, schedule, and manage engaging content across VisitNorman's social media platforms to enhance brand presence and audience engagement.
  • Maintain and update blog posts, email newsletters, and website copy to ensure information is current and compelling.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Media Coordinator to integrate photos, videos, and other multimedia elements into marketing materials.

Campaigns & Storytelling:

  • Support the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns that align with VisitNorman's overall strategies and objectives.
  • Draft press releases and assist with media outreach to promote Norman’s attractions and events.
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for reaching new audiences.

Insights & Innovation:

  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics across channels, including social media, email, and website traffic.
  • Utilize insights to optimize content and refine marketing strategies.
  • Stay informed about emerging tools, trends, and best practices to keep strategies fresh and effective.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local businesses to foster collaborative marketing efforts.
  • Support joint marketing initiatives and help coordinate community events that showcase Norman's unique offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in marketing, digital content creation, or communications, preferably within a full-time, internship, or related professional role in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for various platforms.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and growing in areas like SEO, social media, and digital marketing best practices.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a creative mindset and willingness to bring new ideas to the table.

Preferred Skills

  • Curiosity and an interest in exploring innovative approaches to marketing challenges.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a significant plus.
  • Understanding of social media advertising (e.g., Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads) and how to execute paid campaigns.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics or social media insights to measure campaign success.
  • Interest in or experience with event promotion or community engagement projects.

Salary

$42,000 - $52,000, commensurate with experience.
