Maui Bus Dispatcher Department: Operations Reports to: Maui Bus Manager Status: Non-Exempt 1. Job Purpose/Objective: Starting at $25.79/ Hr This position is responsible for scheduling, directing, and communicating with drivers to ensure on-time service delivery and providing service excellence to all customers, vendors, clients, and employees that require transportation services/assistance at all times. 2. Essential Job Functions: Level 1 - Dispatcher Report on time for scheduled shift Ensure that all drivers have reported for duty on time Monitor "Call Log" to ensure all drivers have received their correct start time for the day Review daily service orders to ensure proper coverage Open runs Challenges Review driver assignments and make necessary changes to ensure proper service delivery Driver qualifications Vehicle Access Vehicle qualifications Access ADA Capacity Adequate timing Review/Prepare driver trip sheets and any other required documents for drivers who are coming in Signs Maps Driver Pouches Daily/Monthly bus passes File previous days documents in respective locations Ensure drivers are familiar with route assigned All required bus stops Routing Special notations/requests Monitor drivers to ensure on time service delivery Monitor and update all Syncromatic Systems Monitor and update TransLoc Re-route drivers to cover open runs resulting from sick or late calls Stand-by drivers Call in drivers to start earlier Keep management informed regarding possible service failures or any events causing traffic delays. Lack of resources Dispatch/schedule errors Communicate via email thread all activity Sick or late calls Accidents Employee issues Service complaints Service failures Update driver schedule as needed New start times Sick calls Update required daily logs as needed Out of Service and In-Service log Route Times Log Extra Services Log Notate any and all changes on trip sheets Time changes Bus swaps Route time changes Extensive knowledge of J-40 Trip sheet input Accessing driver information Replicating Modifying trip sheets Communicate service order changes to drivers Dispatch remaining open runs to ensure efficient coverage into the 2330 hour Notify relief dispatcher of any past, present, and future challenges Requirements Meet all "Level 1" requirements Ability to execute "Level 1" duties and responsibilities proficiently Proficient knowledge of the Island of Maui "landmarks" Alternate pick up / drop off locations Adaptability/Flexibility Able to re-route drivers as needed to ensure proper service delivery Able to adapt and adjust to operational procedures as required Specified skills, aptitudes, and abilities All skills, aptitudes, and abilities of "Level 1" Ability to make decisions with little or no supervision Ability to make decisions in the best interest of the company Greater knowledge and familiarity of driver qualifications Greater knowledge and familiarity of equipment Knowledge of operational procedures which are venue specific Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center Wharf Cinema Center Wailers Village Knowledge and familiarity of Agents, both internal and external Requests from Maui Department of Transportation Procedures Ability to respond quickly and react to emergencies and adverse conditions Ability to identify possible problems and solutions proactive 3.
