Job Description

Type: 6- Month Contract with Opportunity for Extension/Conversion

Anticipated Start: End of June/July (willing to start sooner)

Location: Fully Onsite | South San Francisco, CA

Shift: Monday – Friday ; 8:00am – 5:00pm (flexible start time)

Compensation: $28.00/hr. – $32.00/hr.

Role Objective:

As an Organic Chemist, you will develop and execute production operations to ensure the integrity and quality of products.

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize surfactants using organic chemistry techniques, ensuring high purity and yield
  • Conduct research and development to optimize surfactant synthesis processes
  • Apply molecular biology techniques to support projects in protein expression, gene cloning, and DNA/RNA manipulation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design experiments, analyze data, and solve technical challenges
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental procedures, results, and observations
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in organic chemistry, surfactant synthesis, and molecular biology
  • Assist in troubleshooting and improving lab processes and protocols

Qualifications:

  • Organic synthesis experience (ex. Acyl Chloride reaction, PEG additional, distillation) – this can be from academia.
  • Experience with emulsion chemistry
  • Experience operating analytical lab equipment (pH/Conductivity meters, Qubit, Nano-drop, Bio-Analyzer and GPC/SEC)
  • PCR is highly preferred
  • Self-sufficient, motivated, detail oriented

Educational & Industry Experience Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related GMP regulated (biotech, chemicals, oil)
