Hours: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM ( Flexible )

Compensation: $90,000 to $100,000 per year, Paid via W2 (paid on the books)

A private family in McLean, VA is seeking an experienced and discreet private chef to prepare wellness-focused meals tailored to dietary preferences and health goals. The role includes menu planning, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and preparing nutritious meals while maintaining exceptional kitchen standards. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a private household with strict confidentiality. It's a gluten and dairy-free home.

Main Work Duties: 

• Plan and prepare daily meals focused on nutrition, wellness, and balanced living.
• Prepare meals for family members, guests, and special events.
• Design customized menus based on client preferences, dietary restrictions, and health goals.
• Source and shop for high-quality, organic, and seasonal ingredients locally and while traveling.
• Adapt menus and cooking methods to different kitchens as needed.
• Prepare meals for family members, guests, and special events.
• Coordinate meals around client schedules, travel, and lifestyle needs.
• Collaborate with nutritionists, trainers, doctors, and household staff when applicable.
• Monitor and accommodate food allergies, sensitivities, and medical or dietary requirements.
• Maintain exceptional food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization standards.
• Manage kitchen inventory, meal prep schedules, and proper food storage.
• Accommodate last-minute requests and menu changes.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen areas, appliances, and tools use.

Required Qualities:

• Ability to design customized menus based on dietary needs (organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, kosher meats).
• Strong understanding of clean cooking techniques that preserve nutrients and flavor.
• Experience sourcing high-quality, seasonal, and organic ingredients locally.
• Comfortable harvesting ingredients from a vegetable garden as needed.
• Adaptable to different kitchens, equipment, and environments while traveling.
• Maintains discretion, professionalism, and strict respect for client privacy.
• Able to plan, prep, and execute meals efficiently, including while traveling or on tight schedules.
• Knowledge of international cuisines with a healthy, refined approach.
• Strong food safety, sanitation, and allergen-awareness practices.
• Excellent organizational skills, including shopping, inventory management, and meal scheduling.
• Calm and composed under pressure.
• Strong communication skills to understand and adapt to evolving client preferences and health goals.
• Genuine passion for wellness-focused cuisine and continued learning.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of chef experience in a private home.
• Excellent references from both current and previous employers.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must speak and be able to communicate well in English.
• Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
• Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
• Valid US passport.
