Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and experienced Product Owner to lead the roadmap, backlog, and community engagement for our flagship open-source policy administration system. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of product management, open-source community development, and enterprise delivery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for balancing the strategic development of our open-source platform with the practical needs of paying enterprise customers. You will serve as the face of the product, driving vision, adoption, and engagement both within the community and with enterprise clients. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Roadmap Define and own the product roadmap and backlog, balancing contributions from the open-source community and enterprise client needs. Prioritize features and technical enhancements in alignment with customer feedback, market demands, and delivery constraints. Collaborate with solution architects and delivery leads to ensure product direction supports real-world implementation success. Open-Source Community Leadership Engage, grow, and nurture the open-source community through regular communication, contribution management, governance participation, and documentation oversight. Organize and host community calls, webinars, and product update sessions. Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment for external contributors and developers. Enterprise Customer Alignment Understand the needs of enterprise customers and ensure those needs are incorporated into product development priorities. Manage stakeholder communication for paying clients, providing transparency into product direction and delivery timelines. Align closely with implementation teams to ensure enterprise needs and open-source roadmap realities are synchronized. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with marketing and sales to ensure consistent, compelling product positioning and messaging. Work with customer success and support teams to track adoption, satisfaction, and enhancement requests. Maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, providing updates on product strategy, roadmap progress, and community growth. Qualifications & Experience 7+ years in product management, product ownership, or technical leadership roles, ideally in enterprise SaaS, open-source software, or platform-based products. Experience with core insurance systems (e.g., policy administration platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, or Majesco) strongly preferred. Hands-on experience working with or managing open-source projects and communities is highly desirable. Familiarity with open-source governance models, contribution management, and community engagement best practices. Strong backlog management, feature prioritization, and roadmap development skills. Ability to balance technical depth with market-facing storytelling and positioning. Experience in the P&C insurance industry or enterprise insurance technology solutions is highly desirable. Strong understanding of insurance workflows and processing, including submission, underwriting, rating, quoting, binding, issuance, billing, and claims. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; experience leading product presentations, community calls, and public engagements. Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from engineers and contributors to senior executives and enterprise clients. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field. Agile product management certifications (CSPO, SAFe POPM, or similar) are a plus. Why Join Us?
