Salary Information: $23.97 - $34.24/Hourly

Who We Are

Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.

Position Specifics

Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Production Welder 4 to help support our operations. The Production Welder 4 is responsible for welding metal components as specified by references, diagrams, or written/oral instructions; grind, gouge, or groove metal. Perform other related task to include burning and plasma cutting. Assists shipfitter in installation of structural components. Must be able to identify different types of structural members on board ships utilizing NAVSEA references.

Minimum Requirements

• Demonstrated welding skills such as: vertical, horizontal, and overhead with arc and semi automation equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of welding procedures, various types of welding equipment, proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal welding; GTAW welding and air-arc skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of MIL-STD-22D and NSTP-278
• Demonstrated welding capability encompassing C/S (carbon-steel) pipe and CuNi (copper-nickel) test in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions, must be able to acquire certification to operate high reaching equipment
• The ability to read and understand basic work specs, drawings, and diagrams
• Demonstrated knowledge of various tool usage and welding procedures
• Maintains fire-watch qualification
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required
• Must be able to work any shift
• US Person is required
• The ability to obtain a DBIDS credential is required

Physical Requirements

• Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment
• May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Frequently moves throughout the shipyard
• Works at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders/ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
• Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 50 pounds
• May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams
