RETAIL DIRECTOR

Position based in San Francisco (frequent travel required).

Responsible for all aspects of the business, manages the Management Account and participates in the expansion plan for the area. Directly manages the regional team: Sales, Operations, Image and People.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

SALES

  • Defines and is responsible for reaching the sales budget of the three sections.
  • Promotes and oversees the region’s sales analysis and correct product placement in the store’s three sections, implementing each department’s sales strategy and providing market analysis.
  • Plans and supports workshops to increase sales and boost the image in the area to the highest standards.
  • Provides feedback on competitors to national experts and Product departments.
  • Suggests improvements in the general presentation of the store and layout, furniture, stockroom, lighting, etc.
  • Generates consistent ideas about retail activities to ensure a cutting-edge strategy, maintaining consistent communication with the Commercial Director and Headquarters.
  • Organizes and drives all multichannel activities in the store to improve sales and guarantees a flawless customer experience and full integration of all online activities (IPOs sales, SINT, Store Mode, etc.).

OPERATIONS

  • Establishes the store and stockroom process organization, maximizing operational efficiency through shipments, restocking, RFID functions, money mapping, and a cellular organizational structure. Ensures the correct product flow across all sections.
  • Ensures the proper organization of retail activities and guarantees optimal use of the store’s human resources.
  • Promotes and validates manager action plans to correct deviations from the budget regarding sales, productivity, hours, shrinkage, and operating margin.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations regarding workplace safety and occupational hazards.
  • Collaborates with the General Services department, guaranteeing the best presentation of the store within the budget in terms of maintenance, cleaning, structure, and lighting.
  • Collaborates with the Loss Prevention Department to define the strategy to meet objectives.

PEOPLE

  • Works with the Head of Zara HR, following the HR agenda to improve standards from a People point of view and reach the company’s goals.
  • Defines hours and productivity proposals.
  • Creates an inspirational and growth-enabled environment. Ensures proper management and development of the store’s teams, guaranteeing the identification of talent, internal promotion, integration of new hires, and a succession plan for the area.
  • Participates in decision-making for the coverage of store management positions.
  • Oversees and supports training stores in their area so the training programs are highly efficient, and talent can be identified.
  • Ensures that the company’s policy on Health and Safety, Social Relations, and corporate projects is implemented and respected.
  • Proposes and monitors action plans regarding KPIs and reaching business objectives.

IMAGE

  • Oversees the installation and maintenance of the store window decoration and internal mannequin changes in accordance with the brand’s guidelines.
  • Ensures high image standards in the three sections for their area.
  • Ensures that all store windows have a strong image in accordance with the needs of the business.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of managing either a large store/region or multi-department operations.
  • Experience within a fast-growing and dynamic business would be a distinct advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business field.
  • High level of numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Strong commercial retail background within a similar position is essential.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to set goals and establish performance standards.
  • Proven track record of commercial achievements.
  • Ability to demonstrate commerciality, involving current trends and forecasting future trends.
  • Ability to travel for substantial periods of time and at short notice.
  • Well-established planning skills and an ability to take a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on building partnerships, managing conflict, and influencing others.
  • Ability to motivate people, instill accountability, and achieve results.
  • Proven record in coaching and developing people to improve performance and achieve professional goals.
  • Excellent communication skills in listening, informing, oral, and written.
  • Ability to demonstrate commerciality involving current trends and forecasting future trends.
  • To maintain good standards in personal presentation in order to represent the image of the brand.
  • Passionate about fashion, fabrics, and company product.

Annual compensation range: $160,000 - $235,000 + discretionary bonus
