Job Description

The brands who tell—and live—the best stories will win their market.

How brands connect with people has been upended by technology. AI, social media, short-form video, email, messaging apps—they all feel new and different. But the way people use them isn’t: We’re experiencing a digitally-fueled reimagination of the oral (storytelling) tradition.

In this digitoral era, the brands who will win are those defined by a story that converts their prospects to customers and customers into evangelists.

Woden creates strategic narratives for essential brands and ensures that story is told clearly, consistently, and compellingly.

We’re building the first agency of our kind. And we’re looking for curious, deliberate, and insightful people to join us.

If you’re the kind of person who hits “Apply” to every job you see on LinkedIn, go ahead. If you want to be part of what we’re building, read on.

Who We’re Looking For

Do you feel personally validated by seeing clients post 5-star reviews of your work?

Does opening new clients motivate you? Do you want to play an important role working with others to grow a company?

Then we want to connect with you.

Woden has been engaged by more than 300 brands to develop their strategic narrative. Our clients seek transformation in how customers see their value, how their team tells their brand story, and how they deliver on their strategy.

You’re a great fit for this job if you’re creative —but purposeful. At our core we’re storytellers, but clients ask us to apply story to the strategic challenges they’re facing in their business. We’d like to add a team member who’s curious, loves engaging directly with our clients, and can see the potential in a brand to become bigger than it is today.

We’re recruiting for a Senior Brand Storyteller . The Senior Brand Storyteller works alongside a team of three Wodenworkers to deliver the first three phases of our engagement. You’ll do research and interviews, help develop the client’s StoryKernel (strategic narrative), craft their brand pillars, and create the strategy and copy they need to put it into practice.

You’ll be expected to mentor a junior member of the team. This role has the potential to grow into a team lead in nine-to-twelve months.

Non-negotiables? Great writers only. We’re storytellers, after all. We believe in collaboration and generally work in-person to achieve that: there’s no substitute for working together to solve a client challenge.

Also: you love dogs. Our office dog comes in every day—and besides, what kind of person doesn’t love dogs?

Why You Should Apply

Apply if you want to be part of building something. If you like working with smart people who are trying to do something that’s hard, but rewarding. Mostly, apply if you want a company to invest in you in exchange for purposeful work.

We’ve been strategic storytellers for more than 10 years. In that time we’ve developed our own methodology and worked with more brands than anyone else. We’ll make a major investment in you to learn our craft: nine months of onboarding and training so you can deliver transformative outcomes for clients.

That investment in people is what we need to deliver on our mission. But it means you can expect training, a personal growth plan, and a clear promotion path.

The other perks are good; health and dental insurance, 401k with 4% match, commuter benefit, unlimited PTO, weekly lunch, happy hour, and snacks. But it’s the mission and the team that keeps people here.

Did we mention the dog?

Compensation

• Base salary for this role starts at $4,750/month

• Bonuses of 1% of project revenue for every 5-star client review (you should expect to earn at least an additional $8,000/year)

• 3% of project cost bonus for every referral

Does This Sound Like a Fit?

Then hit apply! Then send an email to jobs@wodenworks.com and let us know why you’re excited to be on our team. We’ll reply with a detailed job spec and schedule a phone screen so you can ask questions and we can get to know each other before moving forward in the recruiting process.
