Job Description

JOIN TORQUE3 AND MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE’S LIVES!

At Torque3, we’re on a mission to restore lost functionality and independence to people who have suffered a stroke or TBI. Torque3 is a MedTech startup developing a unique deeply immersive robotic solution that will revolutionize the way people recover after surviving a stroke or other traumatic brain injury, impacting lives around the world.

ABOUT THE JOB

Torque3 is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our small, dedicated team. This full-time, onsite position is located in Centerville, UT in the Greater Salt Lake City Area. You will report directly to the CTO with some supervision from the Director of Manufacturing. You will be hands-on through the end-to-end process from planning, development, component sourcing, design, fabrication, and assembly of the electrical and electronics for electromechanical functions of Torque3’s Outbounder platform. You will own critical electronics designs and interact with our design engineer and software development team to realize technological breakthroughs and develop a world-class rehabilitation platform unlike anything available on the market.

YOUR IMPACT

You will engage in rigorous hands-on design, development, and testing of cutting-edge robotics which are integral to giving the neuro-impaired rider a sense of complete immersion and full embodiment on our platform.

Your accumulated technical expertise, engineering process know-how, technology passion, and proven own-it attitude will be critical to launching our platform to the market.

In other words, you will have significant challenges to overcome, but in the end, developing this platform will likely be one of the most rewarding projects of your career and a whole lot of fun to problem-solve.

DESIRED JOB CANDIDATE VALUES

  • Wants to make a difference by being results and delivery-focused
  • Shares our vision to improve the lives of stroke survivors and other neurodivergent populations
  • Enjoys working as part of a small team

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work seamlessly with the product, programming, and fabrication teams.
  • You will design critically important parts of our product that interface with hardware and make data acquisition possible.
  • Work in close cooperation with the CTO and software team to ensure seamless integration of the electronics in the system.
  • While designing solutions you’d also need to develop manufacturing processes and maintenance procedures for electrical/electronic subsystems.
  • Your work might lead you to come up with an innovative, never-seen-before solution for some challenges we have in our specific environment.
  • Engage in prototyping processes for electronics to meet timeline and quality goals.
  • Coordinate with the Product Manager and Director of Manufacturing to strategize the manufacturability of our platform, including fabrication processes that should be favored by the Design Engineer.
  • Provide hands-on electronics assembly for the first batch of platforms going to customers.
  • Train electrical technicians on assembly and support procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • At least 10 years of experience with electronics for electromechanical systems with relevant projects
  • Experience working in a lab/small shop environment
  • Experience developing and debugging schematics, breadboard tests, and PCB assemblies (including the ability to solder PCB boards and crimp cables/connectors)
  • Experience developing data acquisition units, sensors, and robotic elements.
  • Experience in digital hardware design (Micro-controllers and communication protocols such as SPI, Ethernet, RS485, etc.)
  • Experience in cable and wire harness design including rugged connectors, power devices, etc.
  • Experience working with multimeters, oscilloscopes and other common electronic lab instrumentation.
  • Embedded programming experience
  • Familiarity with industrial environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills
  • Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in manufacturing
  • Permanent residence in the US is required and no visa sponsorship is available
  • Must live near Centerville, UT (just outside of SLC) or be willing to relocate – there’s phenomenal skiing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc. just minutes away!

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field

SALARY

$90,000 - $120,000 per year

BENEFITS

  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid time off
  • Generous stock option plan

ABOUT TORQUE3

Torque3 is a MedTech startup that is developing a breakthrough neurorehabilitation solution. We are developing a realistic simulator that combines immersive VR, advanced robotics, and task-orientated therapy. Our integrated system is designed to help stroke and TBI survivors increase their neuroplasticity, and thus, make substantial gains faster.

By joining the Torque3 team, you will be a part of something much greater than yourself. There are 8 million stroke survivors in the United States alone, and unfortunately, almost 800K new people will be joining that group each year. These people are facing months – even years of rehabilitation, with very little hope of ever getting back more than a fraction of their former lives. The Torque3 platform will help these people - and their families - to become whole again. Find out more at our website:
