Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator / Senior Estimator with experience in heavy civil and environmental construction. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in preparing competitive bids, analyzing project risks, and supporting operations on complex infrastructure projects. Experience with railroad bids is a plus. Strong technical proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Project is essential.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-value projects with a growing, well-established contractor. For the right candidate, this role may be structured as a primarily remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
  • Develop construction means and methods, project schedules, and bid strategies to ensure thorough and competitive proposals.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimating process.
  • Utilize HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and MS Project for quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and schedule development.
  • Prepare and present bid reviews to management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Stay current with market pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs to maintain accurate databases.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
  • Support handoff of successful bids to operations and provide input during project start-up.
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvement across the estimating team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as an Estimator, Estimator/Project Manager, or related role in heavy civil or environmental construction.
  • Railroad Projects: Prior experience bidding to railroads is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and MS Project required.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote potential for qualified candidates
