As a Senior Medical Editor, you collaborate with a group of individuals with diverse skills to accomplish a common goal: to create materials and programs that meet-or exceed-Red Nucleus standards and client expectations. You work closely with your Group Account Director, who has direct management responsibility for the larger team. You collaborate with the Client Service Directors, Project Managers, Medical Directors, Medical Writers, Instructional Designers, Artists, Developers, and Associate Project Managers to edit and provide quality assurance reviews of deliverables in a timely manner. You also work closely with the Sales team to edit proposals and pitch decks. You assist with the review of marketing materials and corporate resources. Finally, you work flexibly across teams and interdepartmentally to ensure coverage of all Red Nucleus editorial needs. Responsibilities Your responsibilities as a Senior Medical Editor are divided into 3 core areas: Editorial, Quality Assurance, and Editorial Department Development. A Senior Medical Editor is expected to have a wide variety of editing experience and proficiency, to take ownership of the editing function for their team and/or the projects they support, and have a desire to continue to evolve skills in core areas and new technologies: Editorial Perform content and developmental editing of all sales support materials and project deliverables, including but not limited to: Proposals and pitch decks E-learning storyboards of all types Assessment and game questions Print/PDF modules, workbooks, job aids, coaching guides Virtual learning decks or webinars Workshop materials Audio components Evaluate text, audio, visuals, and interactive descriptions for accuracy, completeness, and fit with content and available onscreen real estate Proofread all content for grammar and typographic errors Review and format reference citations and list in correct style Fact check and compile references as needed Create consistency among all components/deliverables of a project as appropriate by fixing errors in style/formatting, placement of elements like footers and page numbers, glossary term definitions, table of contents, etc Maintain style and brand guidance for individual clients and projects Quality Assurance Ensure all final manuscript elements are correctly included in deliverables Test functionality and confirm adherence to technical specifications (operating systems, devices, browsers) of all deliverables, including: All types of e-learning Simulations Games Mobile applications Print layouts Enter issues into Git database and follow through to final resolution Make suggestions for graphical and functional improvements Test newly developed tools/platforms/frameworks as needed Editorial Department Development Contribute to the development and execution of new standards, processes, and initiatives as needed to address client requests and Red Nucleus projects Coordinate with department members to problem solve, troubleshoot, and identify training needs and opportunities for editors Provide guidance and training to new hires as appropriate About You Education Bachelor's degree in English or related subject; or bachelor's degree in scientific, technical, or medical subject with demonstrated excellence in editing Required Experience Minimum 5 years' experience as a medical editor/quality coordinator in an agency setting Expertise with AMA Manual of Style Expertise with fact checking citations from cited reference sources Expertise with a variety of computer tools, including the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Preferred Experience Experience in the life sciences industry Experience with incorporation of client feedback and comments from legal, medical, and regulatory reviews Experience with producing documentation in a highly regulated field (eg, FDA and EMEA regulations), including claims and comparisons with competitors Experience using issue-reporting and tracking systems Pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or biotechnology sales training experience Non-medical scientific and technical editing experience BELS certification Experience with adult learning and instructional design principles Experience with literature review research tools (eg, PubMed) Experience with submissions on client review platforms a plus Skills & Abilities Exceptional editing, writing, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Expertise in applying commercial, client, and in-house style guides to documents in production Proficiency in ensuring the quality of digital solutions/multimedia programs in multiple browsers and formats Proficiency in editing content based on best practices for digital delivery Proficiency in creative editorial work that requires aligning tone and flow Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing deadlines Ability to thrive and collaborate in a team environment What You Will Enjoy at Red Nucleus Competitive pay, incentives, retirement, and income security programs Comprehensive benefits and wellness programs focused on healthy lifestyles Generous paid time off, employee assistance programs and flexible work arrangements Performance driven environment including professional development and transfer opportunities People first culture fostering self expression, diversity, and a growth mindset Celebrations!
