This position requires an employee to be onsite up to 3 times per week at either our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers. The Team: GM’s Motorsports IT team will analyze, define, and deliver the next generation of cutting-edge Motorsports IT software solutions. Leveraging both state of the art cloud-based infrastructure and software development standards, these solutions will enable innovative interactions between GM Motorsports and our GM Race teams to accelerate our drivers to the finish line first! Our combined team of architects, developers, data scientists, testers, and project managers work closely with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure delivery of break-through technologies for NASCAR, IndyCar, F1, and Sports Car GM teams! The Role: For this Senior Software developer role within GM Motorsports, you are responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will be writing software solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Developing web applications using Python, AngularJS, and SQL among other tools and technologies. Updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or solve a particular business problem. Contributing to development in accordance with appropriate methodologies and application of a repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach. Identifying and remediating software issues related to code quality, security, patterns, frameworks, software usability, or end user related issues. Developing your skills by working closely with peers to ensure code alignment with design patterns and frameworks. Integrating with other applications and systems. Automating unit and end-to-end testing of software systems within their domain, focused on software quality and maintainability. Providing guidance and mentoring of fellow software developers. Performance tuning, usability assessment, performance improvement, documentation, and ensuring high technical standards are met. Proficiency in build/release automation solutions. What You'll Need (Required Qualifications): 7 years of professional software development experience Experience with full stack development in Python using web frameworks like Flask, Django, etc. Experience with event streaming/message broker technologies like Kafka, Event Hubs or Confluent Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS or Azure Experience deploying, maintaining, supporting containerized applications using technologies like Docker/Kubernetes Experience with front end frameworks like Angular/React Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies like Postgres, Mongo DB and Redis Experience writing maintainable, testable and reusable code Experience with Agile development methodologies Strong background in software development lifecycle Experience with networking and client-server communication (REST, web sockets, gRPC, server-sent events) People Skills: Self-starter and quick learner who understands and can adapt to existing software applications What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Ability to architect and implement scalable high availability solutions Delivering highly scalable, web-based systems, that can support high transaction volumes Experience working with streaming telemetry or timing-based metrics Previous IT experience within motorsports This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
