We are offering a contract for a meticulous Student Loan Officer in the higher education sector, based in Norfolk, Virginia. As a Student Loan Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing student loan accounts, ensuring their accuracy, and addressing related inquiries.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee and accurately handle student loan accounts within the general ledger system.
• Prepare comprehensive schedules to reflect the activity of all institutional loans.
• Undertake diligent preparation of journal entries to accurately represent all transactions.
• Conduct monthly and annual reporting duties related to student loans.
• Provide assistance with collections activities as needed.
• Monitor and report on default rates and accounts receivable.
• Ensure compliance with HRSA guidelines.
• Facilitate the distribution, processing, and tracking of deferments.
• Leverage skills in data processing and customer service to enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain steadfast adherence to compliance norms and reconciliation procedures.• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Student Loan Officer or in a similar role within the Higher Education industry.
• Proficiency in Data Processing is required.
• Demonstrated ability in Compliance, ensuring all regulations and procedures are adhered to.
• Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and resolve issues.
• Experience in maintaining Journal Entries, ensuring accurate financial record keeping.
• Knowledge of Student Financial Aid, including the application, disbursement, and repayment processes.
• Familiarity with Student Loans, including federal, private, and alternative loan options.
• Ability to perform Reconciliations, ensuring all financial transactions are accurate and balanced.
• Experience in Commercial Collections, with the ability to effectively manage and recover unpaid student loan debts.
