Job Description & RequirementsSchedule Notes:\tDAYS: 9:00AM-5:30PM Primarily Mon-Fri but weekends will be required as needed. When scheduled on a weekend, team member will be given weekday off. CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Technician) or CBSPDT (Certified Board for Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification) Required. Minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience as a Certified Sterile Processing Tech/Central Supply Tech. SPT/CST will be required to and must be competent/highly experienced with decontaminating, cleaning, and sterilizing surgical instruments, supplies, medical devices, and equipment. Will be required to assist with processing, assembling, packaging, storing, and keeping inventory of medical devices and surgical supplies (including gloves, surgical masks, and needles). SPT/CST will be distributing supplies and equipment to departments that need them. Current volume varies, average 20-25 procedures per day.\n\n\nDuties:\t\nJob Summary: The Central Supply Technician is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, patient care equipment and re-useable medical/surgical items. This position also functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room. Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance): 1. Receives, sorts, processes, assembles or sterilizes both patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to established departmental policies. 2. Understands all detergents and disinfectants used to process items. Implements both Universal Precautions and proper use of P.P.E. 3. Operates and loads sterilizers (Steam, ETO, Sterrad and Steris) and assures biological tests and Bowie Dick tests are correctly performed, incubated, read and recorded. 4. Assures sterilization records are completed correctly by recording all item processed, making sure the correct label/load gun is used, reading and interpreting chemical integrator per load, observing and initialing all computerized print outs for accuracy. 5. Adheres to correct use of computerized instrument count sheets. 6. Prepares case carts for delivery to room by using doctor’s preference information to assemble required instruments, drugs and special equipment. 7. Notifies nursing team in room of missing items and confers with coordinator about shortages of supplies and equipment and completes a daily checklist. 8. Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 60 lbs. and stands length of shift. 9. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.\n\nSkills:\t\nKnowledge and Skills Required: 1. Central Processing Course or 1 year experience instrument processing. 2. To work every other weekend. 3. To work three (3) out of six (6) holidays. 4. To work rotating schedule/shifts based on needs.\n\nEducation:\t\nEducation Required: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. Required Certification/Licensing: 1. National Certification: CRCST or CBSPDT\n\n
