Job Summary:
The Cloud Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Sysco’s Data Center and Operating Sites (OpSite) infrastructure. This role involves server administration, desktop and server patching, and Level 2 support for compute/storage edge and data center hardware (servers, networks, storage). The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of private cloud services, contributing to a resilient and strategic IT backbone for the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Server Administration and Patching: Perform regular server administration tasks including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Apply patches and updates to desktops and servers, ensuring compliance with security standards.
Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Provide Level 2 support for compute/storage edge and data center physical or virtual equipment including servers, networks, and storage devices.
Resolve technical issues escalated from Level 1 support and ensure timely resolution.
Data Center Hardware Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and management of data center hardware, including server, network, and storage equipment break/fix and RMAs
Participate in hardware lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, and decommissioning of equipment.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT assets, configurations, and procedures.
Generate reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and support tickets
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with senior team members to identify areas for improvement in service delivery.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cloud operations.
Education Required:
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field.
Experience Required:
3-5 years
Experience Preferred:
Experience with server and desktop patching in a corporate environment preferred above a degree.
VMWare and Nutanix Experience managing virtual machines
IT Experience in a Colocated Data Center, managing hardware, and cleanly cabling equipment
Excellent customer service skills and ability to prioritize requests
Licenses/Certification Preferred:
Certifications in Windows, Linux, VMWare and / or Nutanix
Technical Skills and Abilities:
3+ years of experience in server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines and operating systems.
Proficiency in applying patches and updates to desktops and servers.
Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving Level 2 support issues related to compute, storage, edge and data center hardware.
Physically able to work in Data Center cages and smaller IDF/MDF closets, lift to 50lbs, run cable overhead utilizing short ladders, and install equipment into racks which often includes lifting, moving, and squatting as needed.
Basic understanding of data center hardware and infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage devices.
Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT assets, configurations, and procedures.
Skills in generating reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and support tickets.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with senior team members.
Willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cloud operations.
Basic to intermediate skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
High degree of professionalism and a strong customer service orientation.
Ability to work effectively in a remote capacity.
Willingness to travel 10-25% of the time as needed.
Solid written and verbal communication.
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Language Requirements:
English is required, ability to speak other languages is a plus!

Position requires sitting for long periods but also the physical ability to travel to remote data centers or OpSites, read and apply labels, climb ladders, lift equipment and work in tight and loud spaces.
