Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Operates specialized machinery such as telescope booms, Mi-Jack shuttle lifts, and overhead cranes.

  • Calculates load capacity, determining weight of items to be moved in relation to the maximum capacity of crane based on manufacturers specifications.

  • Inspects clearances, overhead lines, and other possible obstructions to ensure there are no accidents or damage to employees, buildings, loads, or equipment.

  • Inspects and assesses ground conditions to ensure that the crane can be set up safely.

  • Inspects cranes for defects and wear prior to operation; performs necessary repairs or maintenance.

  • Complies with all applicable federal, state, and company safety laws, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Maintains logs and records of operation activities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


  • High School Diploma or GED.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Often required to sit and use their hands and fingers.

  • The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Employees must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • This is an indoor/outdoor work environment with exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand and dust.
