The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe, supportive environment for young people, offering after-school programs and activities focused on academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles.

Job Title: Esports and Technology Director

Location: Impact Center, Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township (BGCDT) - Carpentersville, IL

Reports to: Director of Youth Empowerment and Life Success

Position Type: Part-Time

Hours: 1:30 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday - Friday

Position Overview:

The Esports and Technology Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Esports and technology programs at the Impact Center, with a focus on engaging youth, building digital skills necessary for life and workforce readiness through popular Esports titles such as Fortnite, Rocket League, Minecraft, and Valorant. In addition to leading these programs, the Director will fulfill the daily responsibilities of a Youth Development Professional (YDP), providing mentorship and support to youth. This position requires some weekend work for organizing and attending tournaments and events.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Execution:

Lead and facilitate e-sports programming centered around Fortnite, Rocket League, Minecraft, and Valorant, including practices, scrimmages, and competitive tournaments.

Manage and deliver a digital fluency curriculum that integrates gaming, coding, digital media production, and other tech-related learning opportunities to develop digital skills.

Stay current with trends in Esports and gaming to ensure programs remain engaging and relevant.

Organize and attend tournaments and events on weekends as needed.

Collaborate with community partners to provide youth with pathways to further education, internships, and career opportunities in technology and Esports.

Youth Development Professional (YDP) Responsibilities:

Provide daily interaction and support for youth, ensuring a safe and structured environment during all club activities.

Mentor and coach participants, focusing on leadership, teamwork, and personal development through Esports and technology.

Promote positive behavior and academic success by integrating these values into Esports programming.

Support youth in developing practical skills in technology, problem-solving, and communication.

Staff and Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality program delivery.

Provide ongoing professional development to staff focused on Esports and digital literacy.

Oversee scheduling for tournaments, practices, and other Esports-related events.

Community Engagement & Partnership Building:

Build partnerships with schools, colleges, tech companies, and Esports organizations to enhance programming.

Secure sponsorships and in-kind donations to support program sustainability.

Represent BGCDT at Esports events and establish strong community connections to grow the program.

Facility & Equipment Management:

Oversee the maintenance, functionality, and safety of all gaming and technology equipment.

Ensure all systems are updated and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Develop and enforce safety protocols and guidelines for the use of equipment and facilities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience in Esports, technology education, or youth development.

Strong knowledge of gaming platforms and Esports competition structures.

Ability to build meaningful relationships with youth and foster an inclusive, positive learning environment.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage programs, staff, and volunteers.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for tournaments and special events.

Preferred Skills:

- Familiarity with coding languages, game design, and digital media production tools.

- Experience managing or coaching competitive Esports teams.

- Experience with youth development in underserved communities.

Working Conditions:

- Regular evening and weekend hours may be required for tournaments and events.

- Occasional travel to external tournaments and competitions.
