Genetic Counselor is an integral member of the cancer center who is a lead resource regarding cancer genetics for patients, healthcare providers and our community. Provides all aspects of genetic counseling including extensive family history, counseling patients and/or families regarding suspected hereditary cancer syndromes, recommending gene testing when appropriate and explaining results to patients with recommendations for screening and risk reduction. With experience, Genetic Counselors will have the opportunity to provide education for students enrolled in GC programs and mentor new genetic counselors as well as teaching opportunities in graduate programs. Opportunity to participate in cancer genetic research and community education as well as cancer center clinical committees which help to drive quality care. Education: Master’s Level degree in Genetic Counseling AND Experience: Boarded and licensed with experience preferred but will consider new graduates with less than 3 years’ experience.
