Photon Kinetics is looking for a designer who can bridge PCB layout and mechanical CAD to support our high-performance optical test equipment. This is not a pure mechanical role—you must have hands-on PCB layout experience along with solid mechanical design skills. You’ll collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and optical engineers to turn complex requirements into reliable, manufacturable designs.

What You’ll Do

• Create and maintain PCB layouts from provided schematics (Altium preferred), optimizing for performance, manufacturability, and cost
• Build and update 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings (Creo preferred) for mechanical parts and assemblies
• Release complete documentation packages (schematics, layouts, BOMs, drawings) for manufacturing and procurement
• Work cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, design intent, and configuration control
• Maintain and improve existing PCB and mechanical designs for performance and cost
• Write and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of combined PCB layout and mechanical CAD experience
• Proficiency in Altium (or equivalent PCB design software) and Creo (or equivalent mechanical CAD)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for PCB layout/design
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for both machined parts and PCBs
• Strong cross-disciplinary design judgment and ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for complex, precision electronic or optical systems
• Familiarity with ISO-certified quality systems and documentation processes
