Specific job responsibilities of our Dental Hygienists include, but are not limited to:
Provide a full range of dental hygiene services, including cleanings (prophylaxis), scaling and root planing, and the application of fluoride and sealants
Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
Evaluate each patient’s oral health to determine and select the appropriate tools, materials, and techniques for their hygiene visit
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, plaque control, and post-treatment care to support long-term oral health
Accurately document medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment details in patient records
Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use
Break down and disinfect operatories post-treatment, returning instruments promptly for sterilization
Capture diagnostic x-rays (as needed) in line with ADA recommendations and clinical protocols
Requirements:
Exceptional customer service skills with a warm, empathetic, and energetic approach to patient care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow clinical protocols and office policies consistently
Possess a professional and positive attitude
Associate’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of Connecticut
Active Professional Liability Insurance
Active Basic Life Support Certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
