Position: Recreation Specialist

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the planning, promotion, and management of recreation programs, events, and department communications (recreation software, newsletter content, and email blasts).
• Oversee program registration, assess community needs, and work with the Communications Coordinator to create marketing materials.
• Assist in budgeting, tracking expenditures, and invoice processing.
• Assist with recruiting and communication for seasonal team of 90+ staff, ensuring safety and quality service.
• Address resident inquiries, manage facility rentals, and liaise with community groups.
• Coordinate logistics with Public Works, Police, and Electric departments for Borough-wide events.
• Build and maintain sponsor relationships.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in recreation or leisure services with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum: Associate degree and 4 years of experience, or 5+ years of event and recreation program management.
• Municipal experience preferred.
• Valid PA driver’s license with a good driving record required.
