Senior Staff Accountant

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Atlanta, GA. This role will focus on traditional month-end close , financial forecasting , and transactional accounting , including responsibilities in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and other general accounting functions . The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to accurate financial reporting and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close:
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and assist in generating monthly financial reports for management.
Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Accounting:
- Process and manage transactions related to AP, AR, and other general accounting tasks.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and customer collections.
- Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper financial documentation.
Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, focusing on operating expenses and revenue trends.
- Work with department managers to track financial performance against the budget.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on spending trends and cost analysis.
Transactional Accounting:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support general ledger reconciliations and assist in maintaining the overall accuracy of financial data.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations and documentation.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights for management to support decision-making.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Assist in the development of new policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the accounting function.
Key Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on month-end close , forecasting , and transactional accounting .
- Experience with AP, AR, and general accounting functions.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvements.
